On 17 July, 2011, famous playack singer Suresh Wadkar and music composer Ajay-Atul will be awarded with the prestigious Balgandharva award. Award is instituted by Balgandharva Smarak Samiti and will be honoured at village Nagthane, the birth place of Balgandharva in Palus taluka (Sangli district, Maharashtra).
Wadkar received the award in the senior category and he will get Rs25,000 cash prize while Ajay-Atul will get Rs11,000 cash. Ajay-Atul will be felicitated for the first time in Sangli.
Last year, senior actress Rohini Hattangadi and actor Bharat Jadhav were honoured with the Balgandharva award.
