Government will preserve Balgandharva's On stage rare images

     Iconinc Singer and Actor Balgandharva become hot topic when his Film "Balgandharva: Sound of Heaven" released. People started talking about preserving rare proofs of such oldy and goldy charactors.

     Goverment of Maharashtra decided to run special project which will convert analog media of legendary charactors into digital media. Images, videos will be converted into latest technology which will be useful to use into various magazines, newspaper, books, exhibitions, etc.

   Dilip Shinde, head of directorate of cultural affairs, said," It is a treasure for Marathi culture. Once the pictures are digitized, we can make them accessible to people in different ways such as books, exhibitions and workshops for children. It will help theater professionals, who want to study how stagecraft developed decades ago.

     Cleaning of these pictures and tapes is difficult, as they can be damaged by the slightest mistake. The high humidity levels in Mumbai make the magnetic tapes susceptible to fungus."

     Along with Balgandharva's on stage images, following items are in the list of conversion;

1. Images of Kirloskar's Theatre Troupe's performances,
2. Musician Pandit
3. Govindrao Tembe,
4. Writer Ram Ganesh Gadkari,
5. Vijay Tendulkar's plays such as Ghashiram Kotwal and Sakharam Binder.

     Project will take at least 1-2 years as music tapes run into hours. Cost of project is around 10 lakh Rs.
