"Sangeet Maanapmaan" is back on stage

     After a huge success wave of Balgandharva, it looks like Marathi artists are taking it seriously to put their hands to raise the golden era of Balgandharva. 1911's famous play "Sangeet Maanapmaan" will be revisited by classical singer Rahul Deshpande.

     Maanapmaan was the first play, staged by Balgandharva in 1911.

     A 100-year-old play will come alive on the city stage. Pune's loyal theatre audience can enjoy the era of Balgandharva only by sitting in theatres. It will be interesting to see all the historical and famous characters in the play like Bhamini and Laxmi on the stage. Hindustani Classical singer Rahul Deshpande himself playing lead role of Dhairyadhar. Deshpande will also produce the same play.

     Mr. Deshpande has previously worked on remake of 'Sageet Sanshaykallol' ans 'Katyar Kaljat Ghusali'. On te occasion of revival of Maanapmaan, Deshpande says, "  Sangeet Maanapmaan is the most loved musical play. Audiences have only appreciated it more over time. Thus, I took it up as a challenge to revisit the play and do this role.   Fewer props and more modern visualisation technology will be used in my version of Maanapmaan to enhance stage performance."

     Something about Original Sangeet Maanapmaan:
1. Balgandharva's Sangeet Maanapmaan consists of 52 classical songs splitted in 5 parts. 
2. After Balgandharva, Maanapmaan has been forwarded by eminant singers like Chota Gandharva, Keshavrao Bhosale and Deenanath Mangeshkar.

     About Modern Maanapmaan:
1. Special effects and background screens to show the various scenes have been incorporated.  
2. Deshpande's version will have two parts having 22 classical songs in it. 

     First play will be held on December 18, 2011 at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium, Kothrud, at 5 pm.
